Design inspired by canal houses (Dutch: grachtenpand) overlooking a canal. These houses are often slim, high and deep. Canal houses usually had a basement and a loft and attic where trade goods could be stored.
This travel poster features the iconic canal houses built in Amsterdam, especially along the Herengracht, which is one of four canals in the Amsterdam canal belt. It was created from an original drawing by artist Holly Francesca.
